When Ahmad Shah Abdali demanded tribute and submission, Surajmal answered with careful language and hard walls. He pleaded the posture of a pressed zamindar when useful, yet Dig’s fortifications and provisioning made long sieges unattractive. Abdali raised the Dig siege rather than bleed endlessly.
